We were commissioned to create a show leader, along with other on and off-air animated assets for Nickelodeon’s ultimate road-safety quiz 'De Grote Verkeers Test' (The Great Traffic Test).
The purpose of the show is to educate and empower young Dutch and Flemish teenagers as they prepare for their National Traffic Safety Exam. Our goal was to create the assets to support this mission in a fun and engaging way.
The show leader is designed to appeal to the 8–11 year old viewer, with heightened colour palette, fast-paced movements and an eccentric storyline.
Working with commissioners, Crush Creative, we devised the storyboard to focuses on our tenacious hero, Clara, as she navigates through crazy urban streets to a fantasy land - overcoming the unexpected hurdles and close-shaves.
Animated using frame by frame techniques in TVPaint, the fast movements and dynamic camera angles reinforce the excitement felt when learning to ride a bike in a busy urban environment, with Clara's fluid blue hair acting as a devise to steer the eye through the animation.
The show package included on-air graphics, design by crush and animated by us - a bundle of team scores, bumpers, scorecards, as well as other assets such as wipes, donuts and lower thirds.
“Although a short sequence, we've kept the dynamic movements fluid and exaggerated the camera angles to make the opener action-packed!
